First Part of Migrant Caravan Passes Through Sonora to Tijuana

A small contingent of the caravan arrived in Tijuana Tuesday morning.

Several hundred mostly Honduran migrants passed through Sonora Monday on their way to Tijuana, according to reports in the Sonoran newspaper El Imparcial. They arrived in the border city near San Diego Tuesday morning.

That is just a small contingent of the full caravan, which has several thousand members. The larger group is also expected to pass through Sonora en route to Tijuana, according to an interview with a photographer accompanying the caravan published by the online outlet Proyecto Puente today.

They are expected to arrive in Hermosillo by the end of the week, and could stay a few days. Local authorities are preparing resources for that likely arrival.
