The remains of U.S. Army Private Felix Yanez, a soldier from Douglas, who was killed in the Korean War will be buried in Tucson.
Private Yanez was killed in action in South Korea, on July 16, 1950. Ongoing combat in the are meant his body could not be recovered at that time.
In 1956, nearly 850 unidentified sets of remains were sent to Hawaii, where they were buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific
But in August 2019, his body was disinterred as part of the Korean War Disinterment Project and sent to Pearl Harbor for analysis.
Yanez was identified there using dental and other forensic and circumstantial evidence in July..
