- This past weekend, an estimated one hundred and thirty thousand readers of all ages gathered on the University of Arizona campus for the 2025 Tucson Festival of Books. In this episode of "A Book I Love", Sonia recommends “High Tide in Tucson” by Barbara Kingsolver; Anna Marie talks about “A Race to the Bottom of Crazy” by Richard Grant; David shares his appreciation for “Travels Amongst the Great Andes of the Equator” by Edward Whymper; Nancy is enthusiastic for “Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens, Jennifer suggest the young reader book “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin; and travel author Roger Naylor explains why he reads “Valdez is Coming” by Elmore Leonard at least once a year.



- Film essayist Chris Dashiell offers his thoughts on a compassionate new film from Mexico called "Corina", screening next week at the Fox Tucson Theatre. It finds the humor in one woman’s anxiety about leaving her small Guadalajara neighborhood for the first time to track down an enigmatic best-selling author with secrets to keep.


- In a new essay from “The Class of 2024”, recent high school graduate Katia tells about being targeted by a teacher who used shame as a way to manipulate his students, regardless of the emotions they might be experiencing at home.

- And in this month’s storyteller segment, listen to an unscripted story from a Tucson resident who grew up in Minnesota. Mary Jo Pollack shares her recollection of achieving a milestone goal in her teenage life – getting her driver’s license in 1964. Mary Jo participates in local groups such as Odyssey Storytelling, Female Storytellers of Tucson, and Tellers of Tales. She has also won two competitions at The Moth in Phoenix and has performed in California, New York, South Carolina, and other states. During the pandemic she found a storytelling group online called Swap. Since then, she’s been able to meet the core members in person.
