Republican Martha McSally continued to lead Democratic incumbent Ron Barber in Arizona's 2nd Congressional District race Thursday, with thousands of votes remaining to be counted.
McSally stronghold Cochise County posted its results Wednesday, increasing her lead to 1,293.
An estimated 3,100 votes remained to be counted in Cochise County, and 27,000 were remaining in Pima County, officials said. Pima County officials said they esxpected to count 14,000 ballots Thursday and post the results by 6 p.m.
An additional 10,000 provisional votes awaited processing and verification in Pima County.
Two years ago, the CD2 race took 11 days to decide, and Barber's margin was 0.84 percent.
