Tucson City Council OKs Contract for New City Manager

Michael Ortega's base pay will be $210,000, plus deferred compensation, benefits. when he starts July 1.

The Tucson City Council approved a contract for incoming City Manager Michael Ortega at Tuesday's meeting.

Ortega, who is expected to start July 1, will be paid $210,000 in salary, plus $18,000 to $24,000 in deferred compensation and $10,000 toward a retirement account.

Ortega is Cochise County administrator and a former city manager of Douglas.

He will replace Richard Miranda, who retired last summer.
