Pima County Library officials wants the public's ideas on what services the library should provide in the future. The public meetings are occurring during a critical time for the library. Four branches could be shuttered due to budget cuts by the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

Kenya Johnson is the community relations director at the Pima County Library. She says the library’s mission has changed since the digital age began. It's become a gathering place for Pima County residents.

"[It's] a place where people can come to not just get information, but to get together with other people [who are] interested in what they’re interested in.", Johnson says.

To continue that, she says, the library needs the public's input. Officials want to use those ideas to draft a strategic plan for how to better serve Pima County residents in the future.

The first forum is Tuesday at 6:30 at the Joel Valdez Main Library downtown.

Five more forums will be held through May at other branch locations, the next is Tuesday, April 28 at the Wheeler Taft Abbett Library t branch in northwest Tucson.

The full list of locations and dates can be found here.
