The parent company of nationwide retailer HomeGoods has finalized a deal on 100 acres of land near Tucson International Airport.
The site at South Avernon Way and East Corona Road will be home to an 800,000-square-foot facility that will supply products to all of the chain’s stores west of Denver.
The distribution center would create more than 400 jobs when it opens next year. That number will rise to 900 as the center becomes fully operational.
Tucson beat out cities in New Mexico, California and Nevada for the distribution center.
"We look forward to beginning construction of the facility by June, creating jobs for local area residents and becoming part of the greater Tucson community," said Doreen Thompson, a spokesperson for the company.
