Though the month has changed, the description from the Tucson Association of Realtors of the local housing market remains the same– continued slow improvement.

September's home sales numbers show more long-term improvements for the local market.

Year-over-year numbers for median sales price, up 4.2 percent, and average sales price, up 2.6 percent, both showed improvement. Stronger gains were had in unit sales, 15.9 percent, and total sales volume, 18.9 percent.

The lone number to drop was active listings, down 9.7 percent from September 2014.

Officials with TAR referred to active listings as lower than they would like in their August report.

While year-over year numbers were down, month-over-month active listings showed an improvement of 3.2 percent.
