Pima County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Sharon Bronson held a seven-point lead in her re-election race, and if her lead holds, Democrats will retain control of the board.
Bronson had 53.5 percent of the vote, and Republican challenger Kim Demarco had 46.5 percent.
The race in District 3 was considered key to control of the Board of Supervisors, which is currently 3-2 in favor of Democrats.
All five seats were up for election this year, with Supervisor Ramón Valadez, a Democrat in District 2, having no opposition.
Republican incumbent Ally Miller was leading in her quest for a second term representing north and northwest Pima County, with 51.2 percent of the vote over Democrat Brian Bickel.
In east and southeast District 4, Republican Steve Christy , a former car dealership owner, took the seat vacated by fellow Republican Ray Carroll. Christy had 46,000 votes to 18,000 for Green Josh Reilly.
Long-time incumbent Democrat Richard Elías easily turned back a challenge from Green Party candidate Martin Bastidas in the midtown District 5. Elías had 80 percent of the vote.
