Politics dominated 2016, a year when Arizona was considered a swing state for the first time in recent memory. Republican President-elect Donald Trump and his running mate were frequent visitors to the state. Nearly every Republican presidential candidate came to Arizona during the primary, as did eventual Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her toughest rival, Senator Bernie Sanders. In the end, Trump won Arizona - the reliably Republican Arizona - by 3.5 percent. Political reporter Christopher Conover also looks back at:

  • Sen. John McCain and Rep. Martha McSally both easily won reelection.
  • There’s a new sheriff in Pima County, and he’s a Republican.
  • After two decades in office, Pima County Supervisor Ray Carroll retires. [3-2016-presidential-candidates-composite-spot]: https://media.azpm.org/master/image/2016/3/21/spot/3-21-16cadidates.jpg
