Eight buildings have been burned and evacuation notices have been issued for more than 100 homes due to a wildfire that started in Sonoita Tuesday night.
The Encino Fire had burned 1,300 acres as of Wednesday morning. It may have started naturally, according to an Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management spokesperson.
“At this point we don’t know the cause of the fire," said Tiffany Davila. "We do know that a storm cell moved through the area yesterday evening. The storm had dry lightning associated with it. The fire is still under investigation.”
Davila said the spread of the fire has stopped, and crews are working to establish a containment line around it.
