New data from Syracuse University show the nation's immigration courts have a 764,561-case backlog as of Aug. 31, 2018.
The backlog is a 41 percent increase since January 2017.
The federal immigration courts in California have the largest number of pending cases, with 142,260. That is followed by Texas and New York, each of which has a backlog of more than 100,000 cases.
Arizona's federal immigration court is backlogged by 10,206.
According to the Department of Justice, Arizona has 13 federal immigration judges.
