Entrepreneurs from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border will work on developing tech solutions at a startup event in Tucson this weekend.
The three-day, 54-hour Techstar Startup Weekend is focused on Latinx in tech. It’s an opportunity for entrepreneurs from Arizona and Sonora to come together to network and test out new business ideas, organizers say.
Latinx focused startup weekends are being held in 10 cities across the country this weekend. But the Tucson event is unique in its binational approach.
“It’s very fascinating that we as two different countries and two different states can work together in tech products. So it’s very fun,” says Arturo Herrera, COO of a software development company in Hermosillo, Sonora, that recently opened an office in Phoenix.
He’s attending the event to make new connections and help other entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground.
About 100 people are expected to attend the Tucson startup weekend. Tickets are available until the event starts Friday evening.
