Pima County is gradually resuming a lot of the activities at its parks and recreation facilities that had been canceled in the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The activities being restarted include computer labs, meeting rooms, outdoor programs and meal service at facilities in outlying areas around the county. Those include places like Ajo, Picture Rocks and Littletown. Program manager Kelly Cheeseman says more outdoor activities geared for children and teens are coming in the next few weeks.
"We are going to offer outdoor recreation activities at multiple community centers that we can actually utilize, each community center based on the outdoor space available and staffing models and what our constituents like to do," she said.
She says the staff has gotten creative with ideas that are both fun and safe during a pandemic — things like drive-in bingo that you play in your car using disposable cards. The offerings at each community center might be different, so check with the web page for your local center.
