President Joe Biden nominated a longtime federal prosecutor on Wednesday to serve as U.S. Attorney in Arizona.
Gary Restaino will be the chief federal law enforcement officer in Arizona if he is confirmed by the Senate.
Restaino has worked in the U.S. Attorney's Office since 2003.
In that time, he has been chief of the criminal division and white collar crime section.
He also worked on the extortion and bribery case against former congressman Rick Renzi. Former President Donald Trump pardoned Renzi earlier this year.
He previously worked as a civil rights lawyer under Janet Napolitano when she was attorney general.
And he represented farm workers at Community Legal Services during the 1990s.
Restaino is a graduate of Haverford College and the University of Virginia School of Law. He also served with the Peace Corps in Paraguay.
Restaino will succeed acting U.S. Attorney Glenn McCormick.
With Restaino's nomination, Biden has now nominated 29 U.S. Attorneys across the country.
