Motorists driving along Tucson's Miracle Mile will notice some new neon signs along the route that connects I-10 with midtown.

Tucson housing and community development officials worked with the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation to install four classic neon signs along North Oracle Road, North Stone Avenue, and Miracle Mile itself.

City of Tucson community developer Jeremiah Dean says it's part of an effort to uplift the decades-old corridor.

"It will help people remember what it was about this gateway into Tucson that really was so special" he explained. "And we really want Tucsonans to remember that. We especially want residents and people who live and work in the area to remember this is a really special place."

The development is part of the 'Thrive in the 05' community reinvestment zone that focuses on 2.3 square miles in the 85705 zip code in Tucson.
